Bottom watering house plants is a great watering technique where plants absorb water from the bottom up instead of being fed water from the top. It promotes stronger healthier roots by making them grow downward for their water source, which also helps to anchor the plant.

La. 358 to close for bridge repairs

La. 358 (Brigman Highway) between Scanlan Lane and Pitreville Highway will be closed at 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Aug. 14, weather permitting. The detour route will not be posted but will consist of La. 1108, La. 95 and La. 35. The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform bridge repairs.

School Board budget cuts likely

St. Landry Parish Superintendent Milton Batiste III stressed that the student count in the coming weeks is crucial to the district financial health. The initial budget presented to a Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday indicated the budget faces trimming, not in the thousands, but $7.

Soccer registration is now open The Eunice Rec Soccer Program is a Co-Ed program, open to youth 4-14 years of age. Participant registration is $45. Registration continues until Aug. 22. Season dates are from Sept. 15 through Oct.
