Downtown Litter Walk set Sept. 20 The National Public Lands Day will have a Downtown Eunice Litter Walk Day on Saturday, Sept. 20 with registration from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and the walk from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and water and snacks from 11:30 until noon. Volunteers are needed.

Acadia Parish sheriff: jail is overcrowded

The call volume at the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is the lowest it’s been in the last nine years, but the parish is still paying to house about 70 adult prisoners and eight juveniles in other parishes. Sheriff K.P. Gibson, speaking to the Crowley Lions Club at their luncheon meeting on Sept.

Parish sales tax collections dip

Total St. Landry Parish sales collections through August of $67,703,016 were down 1.9% compared to the same period in 2024, according statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division on Monday. The parish collections through August in 2024 totaled $68,982,133.

Council OKs $23.2M bid for sewer plant

The city’s plan for a new wastewater treatment facility took another step forward with the Board of Aldermen approved a $23,240,000 bid for the construction at their Tuesday meeting. “This is probably the single biggest project undertaken in the city’s history. It’s needed.
