St. Landry Parish marriage licenses

The following people obtained marriage licenses from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office. Thursday, Aug. 7 Mitchell Mack Ewing III and Layla Marie Rider, both of Opelousas. Tuesday, Aug. 12 Steve Glenn Fontenot and Joanne Marie Kling, both of Krotz Springs. Wednesday, Aug.

Driggs focuses on concussions, hydration with high school athletes

Michael Driggs, a physical therapist at Rehab Xcel, has been busy with preseason football season working with St. Edmund High School athletic sports. “We are educating football players about head concussion and staying hydrated,” he said.

School Board settles on budget with $7.9M deficit

St. Landry Parish School Board members are sending a 2025-2026 budget with a $7.9 million deficit forward to its Sept 4 regular meeting for approval. “Am I worried? No. Am I concerned?

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections rise a bit

Total St. Landry Parish sales tax collections through July rose $20,907 to $60,060,998, according statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The July collections totaled $9,058,710, up $967,554 or 12% over the July 2024 total. The July collections were up $753,109 of 9.
