Weather balloons are a basic tool in the weather forecasting service

A National Weather Service meteorologist spoke about weather balloons and the danger of lightning to Eunice Rotary Club members. Doug Cramer, of the Weather Service’s Lake Charles office, even brought a weather balloon to the Wednesday meeting.

Soccer registration is now open The Eunice Rec Soccer Program is a Co-Ed program, open to youth 4-14 years of age. Participant registration is $45. Registration opened July 22 and will continue through Aug. 22. Season dates are from Sept. 15 through Oct.

Parish’s new school points to the future

St. Landry Parish’s new public school, Helix A.I. And Medical Academy in Opelousas, will open with at least 400 students in August, according to Preston Castille, president and CEO at Helix Community Schools.
