The 65th annual National Day of Prayer was observed Thursday at noon at the City Hall’s pavilion and parking lot. This year’s National Day of Prayer’s Nation’s theme was ”Lord pour out Your Love, Life, and Liberty.

The St. Landry Parish School Board moved toward putting tax proposals before voters in November to raise employee pay and fund improvements to high school athletic facilities and playgrounds. The Board unanimously approved advancing two proposals to future meetings.

Bystander among those killed in gang shooting

An innocent bystander was one of two victims in gang shooting spree on Wednesday at East Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. Chris Jones, 58, of Eunice, died at the scene as he fell victim to what police say was a shooting between Eunice and Ville Platte gangs.

Two people are dead after a shooting spree at about 7 p.m. Wednesday at East Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. Two people have been detained. They have not been identified. The victims have not been identified.
