Auditor examines LSUE procedures

An audit of procedures at LSU Eunice by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor made several recommendations for improvement.

Free COVID-19 testing offered at LSUE thru Sept. 23

LSU Eunice, in partnership with the Louisiana National Guard, will host free COVID-19 testing on select days through Sept. 23 at the Acadian Center. Those interested are asked to pre-register at DoINeedACovid19Test.com, however, on-site registration is available.

LSUE: Smaller campus may be safer

There’s no guarantee, but smaller may be safer and that may be a good thing for LSUE as it starts the fall semester on Aug. 24.

Hamlin named academic vice chancellor

LSU Eunice has selected Dr. John Hamlin as its new vice chancellor for academic affairs, pending approval at the next LSU Board of Supervisors meeting on May 22. Hamlin currently serves the dean of sciences and mathematics at LSUE and will assume his new duties on July 1. LSU Eunice Chancellor Dr.

LSUE to hold summer session

LSUE will hold a summer session and plans are moving forward for fall session. While classes have moved online for the current session, the summer session is usually about 80% online, Chancellor Nancee Sorenson said.

LSUE to receive $2M from CARES

LSUE will receive $2 million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Chancellor Nancee Sorenson announced the funding at a meeting called by state Rep. Phillip DeVillier at LSUE on Wednesday.

Werner brings LSUE message home

There is probably no better friend of LSUE than Mary Werner, chairwoman of the LSU Board of Supervisors. Werner is a frequent visitor to the campus for its major moments such as graduations, which is canceled this spring.

LSUE awarded $162K Workforce grant

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System announced that LSU Eunice would receive $162,000 from its Workforce Training Rapid Response Fund. The funding is in response to a grant request submitted by LSUE earlier this year.

LSUE fall commencement has record number of grads

The fall-summer LSUE commencement with 157 graduates was the largest in its history. The graduates on Saturday were given a farewell address from outgoing LSU President F. King Alexander, who announced recently he is leaving LSU to lead the University of Oregon.

Dixon earns first-team All-American honors

After an undefeated season on the mound, LSU Eunice’s Dane Dixon has been named to the NJCAA Division II All-American first-team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Dixon is one of 36 student-athletes to be recognized by the NJCAA on the three-team All-American squad.
