Hurricane Delta is continuing to weaken very slowly. We just had a wind gust of 94 mph here in Lake Charles. Winds should start decreasing along and south of the I-10 corridor in the next 2 to 4 hours, but will be increasing in parts of central Louisiana still.

6 p.m. National Weather Service update

Hurricane Delta is moving ashore in Cameron and Vermilion Parishes this evening. Hurricane force winds are seen in those regions, as well as parts of southeast Texas and Calcasieu and Jeff Davis Parishes. Tides are now falling in Sabine Pass, so the storm surge warning is ending there.

2 storms take aim at Louisiana

The following is from Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist, National Weather Service. Two hurricanes could hit Louisiana next week. Our local impacts of wind, rain, and storm surge will be based on what side of the storm we are on.

Barry has now been downgraded to. Tropical Storm. Barry is now a category one hurricane with winds of 75 mph, according to the 10:30 a.m. report from Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist, National Weather Service, Lake Charles.

Cindy is now a depression

Report from Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist, National Weather Service, Lake Charles: Tropical Storm Cindy has weakened and is now Tropical Depression Cindy, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

Tropical storm approaching; heavy rains forecast

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles reports Tropical Storm Cindy has sustained winds of 60 mph as it moves northwest across the Gulf of Mexico. Landfall projections bring it to the Texas-Louisiana state line by early Thursday morning, but we will see impacts before then.
