Attention all graduating seniors

Graduation will be approaching soon and much is needed ahead of time for the newspaper’s special graduation edition. Eunice High and St. Edmund seniors are to email their senior bios.

Rice City gymnasts head to regional competition in Georgia

Rice City Gymnastics of Crowley had twelve of their gymnasts in Xcel Silver and Gold compete at the upper-level state meet in Westwego, last weekend.

A drive-up vaccination planned at Acadian Medical

A drive-through COVID-19 vaccination event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Acadian Medical Center. The one-shot Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine will be available by appointment by call ed 337-262-5311 or at oph4. timetap.com. The vaccine is available to people 18 years and up.

Bulb & Blossom meeting Monday

The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the home of Dean Deshotel. There will be a program “Shrubs for Lasting Beauty.” For more information, call 580-1213.

“Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World”

A morning of reflection for women is being offered by Petals of Mercy, a Theresian community in Eunice, on May 7. The event will take place in the Jeanmard Hall at 250 N. 3rd Street in Eunice with refreshments from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and program ending at 11 a.m.

Free food for seniors

Coupons are available for low-income senior citizens to get free food. The coupons may be used to buy fresh produce at the Eunice Farmers’ Market. For more information, call Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.

Jesus to Mankind Prayer meeting set

The public is invited to a Prayer Group Meeting (Jesus To Mankind) every Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Cajun Campground, located on U.S. 190 East. For more information, call 336-566-3843.

Help programs ongoing at First Baptist

Two programs are ongoing at the First Baptist Church of Eunice Fellowship Hall. Grief Share meets on Sundays through May 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. with new material every week. Single and Parenting meets on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. through May 19 also with new material each session.

Patrick “Pat” Soileau

It is with profound sadness that the family and friends announce the passing of Patrick “Pat” Soileau. Pat died at his home on March 28, 2021 at the age of 83. He was born in Ville Platte and spent his early years there before moving to Eunice in 1954 with his mom and dad.
