"After the Storm" from Hurricane Delta

Hurricane Delta hit hard in Eunice on Friday with many homes damaged, along with property, and some businesses' signage destroyed. Many people in Eunice and surrounding areas were without power and some today (Monday) may still be without power. See more photos in photo galleries at eunicetoday.

Ronnie Miller

EUNICE~ It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Ronnie Miller announces his passing on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Lafayette General Hospital with his loving family by his side. Ronnie was 72. A Celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at 2 p.m.

Eunice Police Arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. October 8 Crystal Dawn Ozanne, 25, 200 block of Threatt, Eunice. Disturbing the peace, contraband defined, certain activities regarding contraband, possession of Schedule II CDS, less than 2 grams, possession of Drug paraphernalia.

Grief Share group at First Baptist The First Baptist Church in Eunice is currently sponsoring a Grief Share group program.The free program will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and will last for 14 weeks.

Georgia (McGee) Manuel

“Her epitaph is written in the lives of her children…” Georgie Manuel passed away on October 9, 2020 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 80. In keeping with her oft-expressed wishes, no public services will be held; her inurnment will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery at a later date.

Blake Fontenot

Blake Fontenot passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 49. No Services have been planned at this time.

Chad John Faul

Chad John Faul passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 51. No Services have been planned at this time. Chad is survived by his father, Warren Faul; two brothers, Gene Faul and wife Julie and Carl Faul. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Richard Faul.

Early voting begins Friday

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election is scheduled from Oct. 16 to 27 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except for Sundays, according to Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters. Early voting will be held in the Eunice City Hall, 300 S. 2nd St.

Acadia Parish Police Jury to consider cutting library board numbers

The Legislative Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury was busy this week, handling issues ranging from library board quorums to surveillance cameras to subdivision regulations. All recommendation of the committee will be forwarded to the full jury to be considered at the Tuesday meeting.
