FEMA prepares for Hurricane Delta

FEMA is leaning forward with federal, state, local and tribal partners to mobilize teams and supplies to support a state managed, locally executed response to impacts from Hurricane Delta. President Donald J. Trump approved the emergency declaration for all 64 parishes in Louisiana.

Curfew announced for Acadia Parish

A parish wide curfew will be in effect for Acadia Parish, including all municipalities, from dusk until dawn beginning Friday, until further notice.

Landfill closed

The St. Landry Parish solid waste landfill will be closed Friday and Saturday due to Hurricane Delta. Richard LeBouef, executive director said, “We will resume normal pick up on Monday October 12th. Sorry for any convenience, thank you so much for your patience.”

Voluntary evacuation issued and curfew ordered for Friday

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard has issued a voluntary evacuation for parish residents living in flood-prone areas and those living in manufactured homes. “We highly encourage you to stay with friends or family during the storm or to look for shelter north of the parish,” said Bellard.

Veterans Day edition planned

The Eunice News will honor area veterans in a special edition to be published Nov. 8. Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11. This is the second year for the tribute to veterans. Veterans may update or add information to previously submitted material.
