Downtown Litter Walk set Saturday The National Public Lands Day will have a Downtown Eunice Litter Walk Day on Saturday with registration from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and the walk from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and water and snacks from 11:30 to noon. Volunteers are needed.

5th death from Vibrio confirmed

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Health is confirming the fifth death this year from Vibrio vulnificus and continuing to urge residents to take precautions to prevent infection. The Department is still seeing a higher number of Vibrio cases and deaths than are typically reported.

House fire on Mamie, no persons reported inside

The Eunice Fire Department was notified of a structure fire at 151 Mamie St. in Eunice at 4:56 p.m. Monday. According to Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown, “First arriving engine reported heavy smoke showing with flame visible from the rear of the structure.
