Chataignier Mayor Justin Darbonne announced at a village council meeting the village has been approved for $23,671.00 from the state’s Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP). The mayor said the money is the most the village has received from the program.

As two storms threatened, the St. Landry Parish Council elected Jessie Bellard on a 7-6 vote as interim parish president on Monday. Bellard’s first order of business was to sign disaster declarations to clear the way for federal assistance with storm damage.

Lafayette – Nicholas Errol Rheams, 35, passed away on August 22, 2020 at his home in Lafayette. Nicholas “Nick” was born on May 9, 1985 to Everett E. Rheams of Eunice, and Yvonne D. Rheams of Maryville, Tennessee. A celebration of life service will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
