Grab & Go meals for kids through Aug. 5 Restoring God’s Glory Ministries is part of the summer feeding program for kids. Lunches will be available through Aug. 5. There will be a cooked lunch and snacks served daily from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Southern University to launch THC line of medical cannabis products

The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, part of the Southern University System, together with Ilera Holistic Healthcare (Ilera Holistic), today became the nation’s first historically Black university (HBCU) to launch its own THC medical cannabis products.

Virus didn’t affect early voting

There were 830 early votes cast in St. Landry Parish when it ended on Saturday. That compares to 1,101 votes cast in the 2016 presidential primary. Cheryl Milburn, parish registrar of voters, thought the turnout was good and didn’t believe the virus situation kept voters away.

Reber in line for top VFW job

The commander of VFW Post 8971 in Eunice Don Reber was recently elected as the state junior vice commander during the VFW State Convention held at the Eunice Post on June 20. Reber said, “It was the only time ever that a Post home hosted a state convention.

Library reopens

The Eunice Public Library officially opened to the public on Monday after being closed for several months. Library patrons are asked to obey rules and restrictions. Sanitizers are located at the front entrance table as one walks inside.

98 St. Landry entities received at least $150K in federal program

More than 4,500 jobs are linked to entities in St. Landry Parish approved for loans of at least $150,000 through the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Information identifying some of the recipients of assistance through the program was released by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
