The coronavirus is making itself known in Acadiana as parishes are experiencing spikes in cases. The seven-parish Acadiana region recently had a 25% increase in cases to a seven-day total of 1,591 and a seven-day positive test rate of 10%.

Children enjoyed hunting for snails at the Eunice Community Sensory Garden on June 20. On a bright sunny morning several children helped to remove garden pests, snails. Hundreds of snails were removed. Snails were then relocated to the compost pile.

Chataignier experiences a budget shortfall

A budget shortfall is facing the Village of Chataignier in its general fund and sewer fund. The news came during the village council’s meeting Monday where it adopted the budget for the new fiscal year which began July 1. The village collected $132,916.
