Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. January 7 Ravis James Guillory, 600 block of East Peach Street, Eunice. Theft less than $1,000, possession of synthetic cannabinoid first conviction, possession with intent to distribute counterfeit Schedule I drug and violation of drug-free zone.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. January 7 Percy Castille, 43, 200 block of Northwood Road, Arnaudville. Drug court violation. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Ricky Neil Kimble, 26, 300 block of Walnut Street, Melville. Aggravated battery.

Zydeco fans can jam with Geno Delafose Saturday

Fan favorite Geno Delafose leads the monthly Zydeco Capital Jam, set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center, I-49 exit 23, in Opelousas. The jam provides a rare opportunity to meet and jam with one of south Louisiana’s most popular artists.

Update: 2nd driver dies / Ville Platte woman killed in 2-vehicle crash

UPDATE: On January 7, 2020, Troop I was notified by hospital personnel that a second person has succumbed to his injuries following the January 5th crash. The driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche has been identified as 45-year-old Richard Mayeux of Westlake.

Bunkie suffers fatal wound at concert in Opelousas

A 28-year-old black male from Bunkie died in a shooting aroudn 1 a.m. Sunday during a concert at the Yambilee Grounds in Opelousas, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. The victim was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

LSUE professional development courses offered

LSU Eunice’s Office of Continuing Education announced it would host several professional development courses in January and February. To register for any of the courses below, visit lsue.edu/continuinged/work. OHSA 10 Certification is Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

LaDonna Michele Quebedeaux Prejean passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the age of 55. No Services have been planned at this time.
