Walking Ladies of Opelousas named by CFA for as Leaders In Philanthropy

John Denver tribute planned at LSUE

Candidates file final pre-election finance reports

Candidates in Saturday’s primary election have filed their final campaign finance reports. The first of the reports were due Sept. 12 — 30 days before the election. The reports show how much money they raised, and from whom, and how much they have spent.

45% St. Landry Parish voter turnout predicted for Saturday

Tri-Parish voter turnout ranged from a low of 9.5% in St. Landry Parish to a high of 15% in Evangeline Parish in early voting that ended Saturday. Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, predicted 45% of the voters will turnout Saturday. In Acadia Parish, 10.

La. 13 closure planned

The railroad crossing on La. 13, 0.4 miles north of U.S. 190, in St. Landry Parish will be closed for maintenance of railroad approaches from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15, weather permitting. The detour will consist of La. 29, U.S. 190 and La. 758.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Fontenot announces her passing on Sunday, September 29, at 6:27 p.m. at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was 73. A celebration of life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12 at 11 a.m.
