The following are arrests by Eunice Police. October 10 Adan Benientez, 26, 2000 block of Betty Street, Eunice. Domestic abuse battery. Tonya Myers, 46, unknown address, Eunice. Possession with intention to distribute Schedule II CDS, cocaine, violation of uniform CDS law in drug free zone.

Court 208 Rosary during October Throughout the month of October, Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will be leading a rosary each day at 5:30 p.m. in the rosary garden at St. Anthony Church. Everyone is invited to come and pray.

Cloud wins District 28 Senate race with 63%

Republican Heather Cloud won 63% of the vote to capture the 28th Senate District, which includes Eunice. With 100% of the 35,288 votes cast, Cloud defeated Robert Johnson and H. Bernard LeBas. Johnson polled 24% and LeBas 13%. Cloud is a degreed school teacher.

VFW Buddy Poppy

Edwards in runoff with Rispone

Gov. John Bel Edwards will face businessman Eddie Rispone as he seeks a second term. With 63 of 64 parish reporting, 3,905 of 3,934 precincts, Edwards received 47% of the votes in Saturday’s primary. In St. Landry Parish won 46% of the vote.

Assessor race ends in runoff

Sherri Zeringue McGovern took 41% of the vote Saturday, but will face Blair Brigg, who won 33% of the ballots cast with 90 of 92 precincts reporting. Coming in third was Garett Duplechain, who won 26% of the vote. With 90 of 92 precincts reporting, 24,783 votes had been cast.

Parish president race ends with runoff in Nov.

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot will face Parish Councilman Ken Marks in the Nov. 16 runoff election. With 90 of 92 precincts reporting, Fontenot received 30% of the vote and Marks had 32%. Total votes cast were 25,101 with the 90 of 92 precincts reporting.

Guidroz wins 4th term as sheriff

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz won a fourth term as he overwhelmed a three opponents in Saturday’s primary election. With 90 ot 92 precincts reporting, Guidroz garnered 60% of the 26,349 votes cast. Paul DiCapio came in second with 31% of the vote.
