Swine Fest seeking talent show contestants, pork cook-off teams

There are many activities that make up the annual La. Swine Festival held in Basile every first weekend of November. Several of those activities are competitions such as the pig chase, the boudin eating contest, the hog calling contest, the talent show, and the pork cook off.

Utility rate hikes proposed at Mamou

The Mamou Town Council introduced an ordinance during Wednesday’s (Oct. 9) meeting which would raise water and sewage rates for water system improvements. They were also updated about the upcoming Veterans Day Parade, and approved new staff hires.

UL Lafayette nursing college earns praise for end-of-life care training

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions has earned national recognition as a pioneer in end-of-life care education. The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium recently inducted the college into its Hall of Fame.

Moosa hospital action tabled at Parish Council

The St. Landry Parish Council tabled resolutions that would have asked the Acadiana Planning Commission to seek funding for Moosa Memorial Hospital. Coby Clavier, a Parish Council member from Eunice, asked that the action be tabled after it encountered opposition at the Wednesday meeting.
