Former Archbishop Harry Flynn dies

Submitted by Diocese of Lafayette Office Catholics in Acadiana are mourning the loss of Archbishop Emeritus Harry J. Flynn, former Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette, who passed away on Sunday, September 22.

Mathew Simien

Mathew Simien passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St Ann Catholic Church in Mallet. Bishop Douglas Deshotel will officiate. Burial will follow at St Ann Cemetery in Mallet.

Chataignier Council OKs buying radios, property sale

Village Police Officer Gail McDavid requested the Chataignier Village Council purchase two additional hand held radios during the council meeting Monday. “The radio is a lifeline of a police officer when he’s on the street,” McDavid explained.
