Multiple charges filed in fatal 2-car crash in Vermilion Parish

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 167 at Louisiana Highway 696 in Vermilion Parish. Multiple people were injured in the crash, and 67-year-old John Greene of Kaplan was arrested as a result.

Crowley bank robbed

An unarmed man robbed a Bank of Commerce bank branch here Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Two Acadia rice mills approved to ship to China

Chinese officials have announced that 32 U.S. rice facilities — including two in Acadia Parish — have been approved to potentially export milled rice to China. In all, five facilities in Louisiana got the nod.

Atchafalaya River to stay over 7 feet into early April

High water is here to stay at least for a while. Forecasters anticipate the Atchafalaya River will stay above 7 feet through early April after reaching its projected 8-foot crest March 15 in Morgan City. The initial projected crest was March 20 at the same height.

Bible Marathon taking place in St. Martinville

Féte-Dieu du Teche is holding the annual Bible Marathon in the Town Square of St. Martinville that on Ash Wednesday and concludes at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The event drew over 3,000 people last year.
