Acadia Parish crash claims 2 lives

A two-vehicle crash resulted in two men suffering fatal injuries on La. 3070 (McCain Road) at La. 98 in Acadia Parish shortly before 7:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.

Trio arrested in Acadia Parish

Three people were arrested after Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search warrant in the 7200 block of the Church Point Highway in Branch on Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff KP Gibson stated in a news release, “The search was in regards to an open investigation of stolen property.

Karl Joseph Manuel

Karl Joseph Manuel passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the age of 58. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM. at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pastor Caleb Semien will officiate.

Missing juvenile

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 15-year-old Racquel Heaven Malone who left her foster home near Basile during the night or early morning hours of Aug. 21 – 22 and has not been seen since.

St. Leo CDA rummage sale St. Leo Catholic Daughters of Court 2168 in Roberts Cove will have its annual Rummage Sale from 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The sale will be at the parish hall, Robert’s Cove on Hwy. 98.

Ride Acadiana counts 262 first week riders

A total of 262 boardings were reported for Ride Acadiana’s first week, August 20-24, during which all rides were free of charge. The busiest day was last Wednesday, with 67 boardings.
