Rec seeks baseball and softball umpires The Eunice Rec is currently accepting applications for baseball and softball umpires. Applications maybe picked up from and returned to the Eunice Rec office located at 461 Sittig Road. Applicants will receive training in umpire mechanics.

Robert W. Miller M.D.

Born in Eunice and a resident of Baton Rouge, Dr. Robert Miller passed away at home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at age 51.

Jubilee of the Word Marathon to take place in St. Martinville

Fete-Dieu du Teche will hold the Jubilee of the Word Marathon in the Town Square of St. Martinville beginning 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and concluding on Divine Mercy at 4:30 p.m. April 8. Organizers expect the event to draw over 3,000 people to come and “marinate” in the Word of God.

Police: Man fled from officers and struck tree

A 37-year-old Patterson man was caught Wednesday after fleeing from Morgan City police and crashing a vehicle into a tree, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release. —Jovan M. Mosley, 37, of Bernard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:30 p.m.

Parish jobless rate dips to 6.3 percent
