Arrested by Arnaudville Police. Jessie James Freeman Sr., 1100 block of Overton Street, Opelousas. DWI second Offense.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Feb. 23 Lucas Cormier, 23, 100 block of Corinne Street, Eunice. Possession of synthetic cannabinoid Jordan Barrett, 23, 100 block of West Park Avenue, Eunice. Theft. Amelia Hebert, 17, 100 block of West Park Avenue, Eunice. Principal to theft.

Lenten fish dinners at Bishop Center St. Mathilda Catholic Church members will continue to sell Fried fish and fish courtbouillon dinners through Lenten season every Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a pick up at the Bishop Ceaser Center. A donation of $8 will be accepted.

Augustine Fontenot Mitchell

Marshall "Peter" Lafleur

Marshall "Peter" Lafleur passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the age of 56. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice.

House panels edge toward budget breakthrough

As the second week of the 17-day special legislative session begins, House committees on Sunday broke a stalemate, at least temporarily, and approved bills that could help the state avoid major budget cuts when $1 billion of temporary taxes expire this summer.

Tri-Parish youths win at state livestock show

Hundreds of young people from across Louisiana were named state champions during the 83rd annual LSU AgCenter Livestock Show held Feb. 13 to 20 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. To qualify for the state show, competitors had to first participate in parish and district livestock shows across Louisiana.
