Concealed handgun classes offered Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit are scheduled Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and Dec. 9 at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

EUNICE~It's with heavy hearts that the family of John McClelland announces his passing on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Acadian Medical Center at the age of 43. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice.

Sherry McManus Hundley passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the age of 66. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate.

Susan Evangeline Walker Anding, was a leader in the woman’s suffrage movement who wanted more than just a vote. She also demanded a voice in public affairs, which she got and used well.

By Tony Marks Ville Platte Gazette CHATAIGNIER — The Chataignier Village Council adopted ordinances for pay increases and adopted resolutions dealing with a proposed block grant and with millages for 2017 at its monthly meeting Monday night.

Old Glory Relay returning

By Myra Miller Lifestyle Editor The 46th leg of Old Glory Relay runners will be running through Eunice Wednesday on their way to their final destination of Tampa, Florida, for a Veterans Day, Nov. 11, ceremony. The run is a fundraiser for Team Red White Blue, a veteran’s outreach.

March against violence, sexual assault is Tuesday

The annual Take Back the Night March and Vigil is planned at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Eunice Municipal Complex, according to Paula Anderson of the Chat-A-While Social Civic Club. Also participating in the program will be the Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center.

Weather to fuel car, truck show attendance

The Classic Car &Truck Show is returning to the Experience Louisiana Festival on Saturday. Mark Denette, mayor of Basile, is organizing the show. “If we have good weather I think this is going to be big,” he said at the Thursday Eunice Kiwanis Club meeting.
