Police Jury has plan, no money for improvement of LeGros Airport

The Acadia Parish Police Jury has a six-year capital improvement plan for LeGros Memorial Airport in Estherwood. What it doesn’t have is the estimated $5.8 million price tag that goes along with the plan.

Police have captured another suspect following an October 6 shooting on Martin Luther King Dr. in Church Point. Royel Williams was arrested and booked with an attempted second degree murder charge and aggravated assault, thanks to the help of the Rayne Police Department.

Six contestants to vie for IRF Queen’s crown

The contestants vying for the title of 81st International Rice Festival Queen have been announced by Tessa Richard, Rice Festival Queen’s Contest Chairman. The Queen’s Pageant will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Supreme Rice Sound Stage located on the courthouse grounds.
