SMP property assessed value drops in 2017

Assessor Todd Dugas reports that total property values in St. Martin Parish went down slightly this fiscal year for the first time in years. Dugas gave his annual assessment report at the Oct. 3 parish council meeting.

Derrick Mitchell indicted for death of Paul Rice

Derrick Mitchell has been indicted for the death of Paul Rice. A Grand Jury indicted Mitchell on Monday for first-degree murder. Mitchell is accused of shooting and killing Rice on July 5, 2012. Rice was shot at the corner of Bailey Street and Felicity Street in Abbeville.
