Information sought about 4-wheeler thefts

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs help to solve a crime. During the past month the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints of four-wheeler thefts. The most recent ones were from the Basile, Evangeline and Crowley areas.

Tips sought in theft of 3 recreational vehicles

TSt Landry Crime Stoppers and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office need help in locating three stolen recreational vehicles from the Lawtell area. On July 5, a black 2016 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster was reported stolen on U.S. 190.

Phone scammers targeting Acadia Parish, sheriff says

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson wants everyone to be aware of an aggressive phone scam targeting Acadia Parish citizens where the caller ID /telephone number has been altered to look like it’s coming from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

ACT scores on the rise in state

ACT scores for public high school students in 2017 rose by a record number, but in St. Landry Parish the scores failed to meet the state average and showed a decline from the 2012 results.

Eunice sales tax collections lag behind

Eunice sales tax collections continue to lag behind those of 2016, according to statistics from the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division. From January through July sales tax collections totaled $3,121,336, down 0.8 percent from the $3,147,369 collected in the same period in 2016.

When will the Maple Avenue bridge be completed

The Maple Avenue bridge at the intersection with Bobcat Drive is expected to be completed by late November to early December, according to Alderman Marion “Nootsie” Sattler.
