The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Aug. 18 Bradey Scott Brown, 36, 1200 block of Gregg Street, Eunice. Brandon Smith, 31, 2500 block of Raymond Highway, Elton. Second-degree battery. Nicklos Watley, 34, 600 block of Nimitz Street, Eunice. DWI, open container safely belt use.

LSU researchers explore untapped crawfish benefits

An LSU AgCenter researcher is working on ways to add value to the Louisiana crawfish crop. Tail meat is the main reason farmers raise crawfish, but Subramaniam Sathivel sees benefits in the entire crustacean.

Higgins taking part in ‘App Challenge’

$500 reward offered for information about dog shooting

The Humane Society of Louisiana is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fatal shooting of a three-legged canine named “Jack.” On Aug. 2 of this year, Jack, a Schnauzer mix, left his yard and wandered off.

Louisiana’s unemployment rate continues to fall

Seasonally adjusted data released by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) indicates that the Louisiana unemployment rate continued its decrease, down to 5.3 percent for July. The last time the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.3 percent was September of 2008.

Louisana’s KKK history recalled after Charlottesville

Focus is back on the Ku Klux Klan following the tragic violence in Charlottesville last week. The Southern Poverty Law Center released data alleging that the Klan is still active in Louisiana, particularly in the central and northwest part of the state.
