Business tax introduced with meow

By William Taylor Potter/Manship School News Service BATON ROUGE – A key part of Gov. John Bel Edwards’ tax plan quietly was introduced to the House on Monday in the form of House Bill 628 by Rep. Sam Jones, D-Franklin, which would place a tax on gross receipts of businesses.

Eunice loses a trio of leaders

Eunice lost a trio of leaders from Friday to Monday. Former Mayor Curtis Joubert, when contacted for comment, said, “This is some week we’ve got here in Eunice.” On Friday, former Police Chief Anthony”Tony” Fuselier died. On Saturday, Adam “Brother” Johnson died.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal investigators are continuing to look into a fire Sunday morning that claimed the life of 2-year-old Sa’mya Leblanc. Brant Thompson, deputy state fire marshal, said some details about the fire are not being released.
