Low turnout expected in March vote

Three judicial races, a trio of special elections for the Louisiana House of Representatives and a number of local-level contests on the ballot this month should produce an overall voter turnout that’s below 20 percent, according to the secretary of state’s office.

A list of deferred maintenance at LSUE totaled $13.2 million in a list presented by Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne along with a proposed budget. The list was reported in a USA today Network of Louisiana story on March 6 in The Daily Advertiser.

Arson, burglary discovered

A house fire at 141 South Aymond is being investigated as a burglary turned into an arson, according to Brandt Thompson, state Fire Marshal deputy chief. The fire was reported at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday and by 3:59 Fire Chief Mike Arnold was contacted that it was possible arson and burglary.

Survey finds Eunice a tad more littered

An annual survey of litter in Eunice found the city a bit worse off this year than in previous years, according to Donna Baltakis, Keep Eunice Beautiful director. Baltakis delivered the report at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting at the Eunice Municipal Complex.
