Tri-Parish job picture brightens

The Tri-Parish employment pictured brightened in March with jobless rates declining, according to federal data released Friday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The unemployment numbers are not adjusted for seasonal factors. The state’s jobless rate was 5.

Unrestrained Ville Platte man killed in single vehicle crash

A single-vehicle crash on U.S. 167 near Alligator Lane in Evangeline Parish claimed the life of 22-year-old Brett M. Fontenot of Ville Platte, according to a report from Louisiana State Police Troop I. The wreck occurred about 2 a.m. Friday.
