Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Dec. 2 Claburn Bradley, 50, 200 block of Natalie Street, Eunice. Theft of goods (shoplifting). Darrell Lee Jones, 55, 500 block of West Gum Street, Eunice. Three warrants. Lacie Ann Miller, 31, 1000 block of North 7th Street, Eunice. Warrant.  

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs help solving burglary in Church Point

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a residential burglary, which occurred in the 1200 block of Castille Highway in Church Point sometime between Nov. 23 and Nov. 27. Forced entry was made into the home through the rear door, and once inside unknown suspects stole a 55” plasma TV.

Jobless rates drop from September to October

The unemployment rate in Louisiana dropped to 5.9 percent in October, down from 6.7 percent in September, according to not-seasonally-adjusted data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. St. Landry Parish’s unemployment rate in October was 7.8 percent, down from 8.

Eunice Junior High School subjected to bomb hoax

A bomb threat was received by text message to an assistant principal at Eunice Junior High School at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday that proved to be a hoax, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. The the building was cleared by 6:40 a.m. before the building opened.
