Glenda “Sue” Fontenot Smith passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the age of 73. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at First Baptist Chataignier with Reverend Rickey Boone officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Cemetery in Chataignier.

Fantasies owner ‘shifting gears,’ pulls permit

Jasen Bourque has pulled the building permit for his planned Fantasies LS Club, but vows “this, by far, is not over.” “I’m just shifting gears right now,” Bourque said Wednesday morning. Bourque said he’s keeping the property on Gumpoint Highway and will be moving a double-wide mobile home onto it.

Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division troopers conducted an investigation on Nov. 7 following reports of misconduct involving race jockey Martin Osuna. The incident occurred at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino (EVDRC) in Opelousas.

Acadia Parish man arrested for indecent behavior with a juvenile

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Acadia Parish man on 15 counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. Detectives were notified by the Department of Child Protection Services in reference to a minor child being touched by a family member inappropriately.
