Annual public ‘Road Show’ set for Lafayette

Eunice hospital district may be abolished

An ordinance to abolish St. Landry Parish Hospital Service District 1 is on the agenda at Wednesday’s Parish Council meeting. The introduction of the ordinance is one more sign of the former Moosa Memorial Hospital fading into history.

There’s a plan for downtown

Revitalization of downtown 2nd Street in Eunice was the topic at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. Alicia Mire, Eunice Main Street director, was the guest speaker Wednesday. A few months ago the city of Eunice was granted funding for a downtown revitalization plan.

Train fire cause unknown

A train car fire east of North St. Mary Road after 2 p.m. Thursday caused a flurry of action from first-responders. Thick black smoke came from rail cars on fires north of Acadian Medical Center.
