A 21-year-old Opelousas man has been charged with raping a woman he met in Lafayette.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz reports deputies received a call Oct. 2 in the Lawtell area reporting that a female victim had been beaten and raped.

LDWF agents rescue lost hunter in St. Landry Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents successfully rescued a missing hunter from the Thistlethwaite Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on Oct. 10 in St. Landry Parish.

Murder-suicide investigated

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies dispatched just after 7 p.m. on October 12 on La. 367 (White Oak Highway) discovered two people deceased from gunshot wounds.
According to the news release from Sheriff K.P. Gibson, the case is believed to be a murder / suicide.

Early voting begins Friday

Early voting for the Nov. 5 Presidential Election will be held from Friday to 29 with the exception of Sundays, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Due to ongoing construction in the courthouse in Opelousas, early voting in Opelousas will take place at the Delta Grand Theater.
