Simple steps for homeowners to secure property

With Tropical Storm Francine projected to make landfall as a hurricane in Louisiana, LaHouse Research and Education Center director Carol Friedland is urging homeowners to take proactive measures to safeguard their families and homes from the impending severe weather.

Francine forcing closures

As Tropical Storm Francine churned in the Gulf of Mexico the list of closures grew in the area on Monday St. Landry Parish public schools were shutting down with early dismissal on Tuesday. The schools were to be closed Wednesday, which when Francine is expected to make landfall as a hurricane.
The Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society held its Fall tour of the site in Eunice on Saturday morning. About 40 people attended and saw a prairie in full bloom. At right, Matthew Boutte and  Margaret Frey stop  on the walk around the 10-acre site. The society was officially founded on May 22, 1989, by prairie enthusiasts including biologists Charles Allen and Malcolm Vidrine, who taught at LSUE. EUNICE–Sue Kim Price, born on Wednesday, April 19, 1978, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Jackson, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life is pending and will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

LSUE to close campus Wednesday, Thursday

LSU Eunice will close its campus on Wednesday and Thursday due to the expected path of Tropical Storm Francine. The LSUE administration will continue to monitor the storms’ track and severity for any additional updates.
