It’s satsuma time in Louisiana. Some plants began ripening in late September while other varieties will continue to mature through late November on into early December. As one of the best cold-hardy citrus types we can grow in the South, satsumas are a great option for home growers in Louisiana.

Ordinances filled Parish Council’s time

There were 16 ordinances on the table at the St. Landry Parish Council met on Wednesday. Not all of the ordinances were addressed, but there was enough to fill about and 90 minutes of hearing time. Ten ordinances were introduced and another five were passed.

There has never been a Speaker of the House from Louisiana. Jerrie LeDoux, community liaison for U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Eunice Rotary Club.

St. Landry Parish burn ban lifted

Following a review of recent rainfall and guidance from the National Weather Service, which indicates that the present fire risk has dropped to below normal and is classified as "low," St. Landry Parish Government officially announces its decision to lift the parish-wide burn ban, effective Nov. 16.
