Almost 2,500 voted early here

At the end of Tuesday, 2,486 votes had been cast for the Oct. 14 election in St. Landry Parish, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website, geauxvote.com. Early voting for the Oct. 14 election will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Worker rescued from auger

An employee male subject was trapped in an auger at Tri-Parish Rice Drier, located on Bacciochi Street, at about noon Friday. Eunice firefighters responded to the scene, along with St. Landry Parish Sheriff deputies and St. Landry EMS.

Unopposed Bellard is a top campaign fundraiser, spender

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard emerged unopposed for the Oct. 14 election, but his report indicates he was ready for a challenger with total receipts of $68,729.21 — all contributions. Bellard reported expenditures of $53,397.81.
