Parish budget fails to pass

A budget for 2023 for St. Landry Parish Government failed to pass at a special meeting Tuesday. Six members voted for the budget and five against after nearly two hours of deliberations, mostly in public hearings.

Domestic squabble turns into a shooting

An argument between a girlfriend and boyfriend ended with the boyfriend getting shot in the back, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. On Jan. 27, Crystal Bell-Edmond called 911 stating she shot her boyfriend in the back, Guidroz stated.

Sheriff: Man flagged down then shot

A man driving a car on Meche Road in the Arnaudville area, who was flagged down by someone in a gray Nissan Sentra, stopped and was shot on Jan. 28, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. When the victim stopped the vehicle, three male subjects exited the Nissan.
