City holiday hours announced Mayor Scott Fontenot has granted full-time, non-civil servant employees of the City of Eunice, Dec. 23 off for the Christmas holiday. The regular scheduled Christmas holiday is Dec. 26 so for Christmas the City of Eunice departments and offices will be closed Dec.

Teen charged in shooting

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested with three counts of attempted first-degree murder on Dec. 8. According to Eunice Police Detective Jessica Tezeno, “Back on Sept. 4 police officers responded to the area of Ida and Tate streets in reference to a shooting.

Experienced health care leader is UL Lafayette’s new chief strategy officer

Dr. Kristi L. Anderson, an experienced health care leader, researcher and educator, is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s chief strategy officer. Anderson is the first person to hold the newly created position.

Christmas Triad party held

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office held its annual Triad Christmas party for senior citizens at the Yambilee in Opelousas on Dec. 7. “We also honored our veterans who were in attendance and those who lost their lives in the bombing of Pearl Harbor,” Guidroz stated in a news release.

Christmas parade is today

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Christmas Parade of Lights beginning at 6 p.m. today. The parade will begin on North 2nd Street, will continue on 2nd, and Park Avenue, and will end near S. 9th Street.
