Linton “Sonny” Joseph Rougeau, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the age of 80. A Funeral Service will be held at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

My dog Thurber has been lying to me. It only figures, because it’s impossible to avoid mistruths these days. We just exited a miserable election cycle in which truth stretching, name calling and vote pandering were all in high gear — and inescapable.

St. Landry Crime Stoppers program has been awarded top national awards for its work in helping law enforcement and the victims of crimes, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Voters to settle Eunice election Saturday

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in an election that will settle the composition of the Eunice Board of Aldermen. Early voting for all of St. Landry Parish ended Dec. 3 with 2,412 votes cast. There 1,592 votes cast in person and 820 absentees.
