Acadia Parish elections offer some surprises

From The Crowley Post-Signal There were a number of interesting elections across Acadia Parish. Just in Crowley, there will be a new police chief and a number of new faces on the city council. In Church Point, former council members are trying to win their seats back after “sitting out” a term.

This is addressed to the people who remain in a state of shock after Pennsylvania voters chose John Fetterman to represent them in the U.S. Senate come January. Many have said that the reason Fetterman won is that Pennsylvanians did not like the “inauthenticity” of his opponent, Mehmet Oz.

Late student honored at basketball game

Family, friends and classmates gathered at the Chataignier Elementary School gym to pay tribute to a late classmate. Ty Ardoin was a seventh grade student at Chataignier Elementary, a Ville Platte resident and member of the school’s basketball team.

Eunice Bulb and Blossom Club provides wreath for Blue Star Marker

The Blue Star Program honors all men and women that serve in the United States Armed Services. The program began with the planting of 8,000 dogwood trees by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs in 1944 as a living memorial to veterans of World War II.

Opelousas schools face consolidation

Veterans Day is observed in Eunice at VFW Post 8971 with a familiar consistency. The constant is the ceremony and then the gumbo with high school students serving. But the favorite might be the veterans who walk up to the microphone to tell the crowd a little about a their service to the nation.

Parade of Lights scheduled for Dec. 15 The Eunice Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Christmas Parade, “Parade of Lights,” set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Sponsors are in need for the success of the parade. Parade entries are $25 each.
