St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard has lifted the burn ban issued last month due to dry conditions. The rescind order was effective as of 8 a.m. Wednesday. The original order was issued on Oct. 4.

A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 190 near Frank Road in St. Landry Parish around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday claimed the life of 44-year-old Scott W. Edwards of Opelousas, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
