Grand jury indictments announced

On Oct. 10, Jared Eugene Wells, 23, of Port Barre, was indicted by the St. Landry Parish Grand Jury with the second-degree murder of David Joachin, also of Port Barre. The grand jury heard evidence of the shooting which occurred at 1310 Jennings Road in Opelousas on June 11.

Organizers of “Walk to Fight Suicide” speak at Rotary Club

The organizers of “Walk to Fight Suicide,” set for Nov. 8, were the guest speakers at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting last week. There will be a Suicide Awareness event “Walk to Fight Suicide” in downtown Eunice. Speakers were Jennifer Glasscock and Bailey Granger, guests of Rotarian Jason Smith.

EFD responds to fires

Eunice Fire Department firefighters reported and responded to two separate fires this week, one on Monday, Oct. 13 at 4:24 p.m. and the second one on Tuesday, Oct. 14. According to Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown, “Eunice Fire Department responded to a structure fire located at 654 U.S. Hwy. 190.
