Louisiana State Parks are offering multiple discounts on overnight stays to encourage outdoor travel in the cooler months. Many campers say the mild Louisiana winter is their favorite time of year to hike the trails or fish when bass are biting, but the mosquitos are not.

Rayne man sentenced for killing, transporting whooping crane

Kaenon A. Constantin, 28, was sentenced on July 30 to five years of probation for killing and transporting a federally protected and endangered whooping crane, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney David Joseph.
