Scorched railroad cars were found east of St. Mary Road on Thursday. The cause of the fire had not been determined as of Friday morning. (St. Landry Parish Government photos)
Train fire cause unknown

A train car fire east of North St. Mary Road after 2 p.m. Thursday caused a flurry of action from first-responders.
Thick black smoke came from rail cars on fires north of Acadian Medical Center.

The victim of an early Sunday morning shooting has been identified as Markies D. Leday, 34, of Lafayette.
Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said, “The investigation is still ongoing and we are continuing with interviewing several individuals and processing information.
