Group home operator charged with extortion

An Opelousas group home operator has been charged with extorting a resident.
Monette Andrea Irving Ford, 57, of the 1900 block of Meadow Run Road, Opelousas was chrged on June 11 with extortion and her bail was set at $5,000.

Dollar Tree employees notified the Eunice Police Department on June 15 that a skimming device was located at one of their registers. Eunice Police say store employees have no idea how long the device had been there. If you have visited the Dollar Tree recently, and used a debit or credit card, police ask that you review your statements for any suspicious transactions that you did not authorize. Eunice Police also warn these devices may have been placed in other stores without detection from store employees.

Tips sought about John R. Young burglary

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Eunice Police are asking for information about a burglary at the John R. Young Chevrolet GMC Body Shop, located at 1230 Laurel Ave. in Eunice
Eunice Police were notified on June 3 of the burglary.
