Suspect named in Church Point homicide case

A suspect has been named in connection with a homicide that occurred in Church Point on Nov. 22, according to a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Drive at 8:54 p.m., the news release stated.

Federal jury trial ends with guilty verdict against Abbeville man for trafficking of fentanyl

St. Landry Crime Stoppers needs the help in solving a homicide in the Opelousas area. On July 16, deputies received a call from the Opelousas Police Department stating that a shooting had occurred during the time of an auto accident.

Crash kills St. Landry Parish teen

A single-vehicle crash on La. 360 about five miles north of Interstate 10 claimed the life of 17-year-old Hunter Joseph Higdon of Port Barre. State Police were notified of the crash shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.

Tips sought about theft of 2 vehicles south of Church Point

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of two vehicles that occurred in the northeast portion of the parish on Nov. 17 during the early morning hours.
