Eunice curfew may be working

The curfew for adults in Eunice is apparently working, Police Chief Kyle Lebouef said. The 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew was announced effective March 23. “I’ve not seen as many minors out there walking or hanging out on the street,” he said on Tuesday.

Opelousas woman charged with 29 counts of identity theft

A 35-year-old Opelousas woman was arrested Monday and charged with 29 counts of identity theft related to Medicaid payment, according to a Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release. Jessica Marie Guillory, of the 600 block of Fontenot Road, was arrested on Tuesday.

Former town clerk in Washington charged

A former Town of Washington employee has been charged with theft and malfeasance in office over traffic citations. Erica Shauntrell Zacharie, 38, of the 100 block of Garnet Drive, Opelousas, turned herself in at the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked on the warrant issued for her arrest.

Sheriff: Drug bust is deadly, historic

The 5.2 pounds of fentanyl seized in a drug bust is enough to kill 1,250,000 people, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. The fentanyl was seized in a drug bust of Benjamin I. Pittman, 43, of the 200 block of Rue Destin, Sunset.
