Opelousas Police Detective Mike Hidalgo, through St. Landry Crime Stoppers, is asking for help in locating a suspect wanted on murder charges. On April 27, Opelousas Police were dispatched to 719 Mia St. for a shooting complaint where one adult and five children had been shot.

Suspect identified in coin-operated machine thefts

Law enforcement agencies along the I-10 corridor, have been investigating a rash of thefts from various types of coin-operated machines at local businesses. The thefts have mainly been occurring at convenience stores where the air machines have been forcefully entered and the money stolen.

Wreck claims the life of Mamou woman

A two-vehicle crash on La. 26 just north of La. 104 in Allen Parish claimed the life of 37-year-old Teela Louise Christian of Mamou. The crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m. April 29, according to a news release from Louisiana State Troop D.

8 arrested in Project Safe Neighborhoods

Eight people were arrested and $40,000 worth of illegal drugs were taken off the streets in Project Safe Neighborhoods in April, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release. The Sheriff’s Office also seized seven guns, three vehicles and $9,600 in cash.
