Police chasing reports of gunshots, uncooperative suspects, victims

When asked about shots fired on Friday and Saturday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot described a familiar problem of uncooperative suspects and victims. The first incident involved someone reporting a threat coming from a subject in a gray car at 12:39 a.m. Friday.

2 arrested in domestic incident, man cut with knife; she says it was self-defense

A man and woman were arrested after a domestic incident in which the man was cut with a knife. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said both had protective orders against each other and it was not the first time she used a knife on him. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of West Peach.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. December 10 Israel Paul Plessala, 43, 5200 block of Gondron Road, New Iberia. Unlawful use of state-issued identification to gain access to a gaming establishment or in conjunction with gaming activities.

Carencro woman sentenced for defrauding her employer

Yvette L. Fontenot, 54, of Carencro, has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert R. Summerhays to 14 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for using or trafficking in an unauthorized access device, according to a news release from Acting U.S. Attorney Alexander C.
