The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. November 19-21 Freddie Francis, Jr., 68, 700 block of S. Bullard Street, Opelousas. Aggravated second degree battery. Arrested by Opelousas Police. Joshua T. O’Neal, 30, 200 block of Majors Road, Melville.

Sex offender arrested in Acadia Parish for banned social media use

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a sex offender for unlawful use of social media. Sheriff K.P. Gibson stated Brandon L. Brown, 39, of Iota, was operating a social media account under a fake name. Brown was booked into the parish jail and bail was set at $15,000.

Two rural St. Landry Parish high schools experienced threats within days of each other.
